Fondazione Patto con il Mare per la Terra

About

About

The PMT Foundation was established to create a Covenant with the Sea: a promise of protection, resilience and regeneration of marine ecosystems to sustain life on Earth. Realizing that the sea represents 90 percent of the biosphere and covers more than 70 percent of the planet, we promote sustainable management and the adoption of eco-friendly practices to address global challenges such as climate change, pollution, and resource scarcity.

The PMT foundation aims to serve as a point of reference for public institutions, universities, research centers and companies to research and develop innovative solutions that respect biodiversity and ecosystems, reduce the impact of waste (starting with plastic in the sea) and enhance the value of the sea as a key natural resource.

Through research, training and consulting projects, we support a sustainable and "people- and business-friendly" marine economy that ensures healthy food, renewable energy and well-being today and for future generations.

The University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo plays a crucial role in the creation of the Covenant with the Sea for the Earth Foundation, acting as a bridge between scientific research, cultural innovation and economic sustainability. Through its expertise in the food sector and collaboration with fishing communities and fish operators, UNISG has been able to highlight the inextricable link between human activities, marine biodiversity and the health of the planet. Through its network of strategic partners, universities and institutions, the University promotes an integrated approach to marine ecosystem management, supporting innovative solutions for water protection and natural resource enhancement. This commitment translates into a global vision, where awareness, education and research come together to build a sustainable future that starts from the sea and embraces the entire planet.
